Friday, Feb 16, 2018

Nereus Alum Rebecca Asch, an assistant professor in the Department of Biology, East Carolina University, and AOS Alum Daniele Bianchi, an assistant professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, UCLA, are among the 126 early-career scholars awarded prestigious 2018 Sloan Fellowships, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation announced recently.  The two-year fellowships were awarded to advance their work in the field of ocean sciences.

“The Sloan Research Fellows represent the very best science has to offer,” said Adam Falk, president of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, in a press release yesterday. “The brightest minds, tackling the hardest problems, and succeeding brilliantly — Fellows are quite literally the future of twenty-first century science.”

Congratulations to Rebecca and Daniele, both former members of the Sarmiento Group!
