Hurricanes are Intensifying More Rapidly and it may be our Fault

The percentage of tropical systems that have intensified rapidly in the Atlantic Ocean has tripled over the last three decades, according to a study published recently in Nature Communications.  The study was led by former AOS Postdoc Kieran Bhatia (BP Sunbury, Greater London), who conducted the study while at Princeton. AOS Faculty member Gabe Vecchi, professor of Geosciences and the Princeton Environmental  Institute, Tom Knutson (GFDL), former AOS Associate Research Scholar Hiroyuki Murakami (UCAR), Keith Dixon (GFDL), and Carolyn Whitlock (Engility) are among the study's co-authors.
